Hemplime material
A biocomposite means that two or more materials are combined (where one of them is naturally derived) to form a new material. This new material’s performance is an upgrade compared to the individual constituent materials. In our case, it is the combination of hemp shives and hydrated lime, which yields the high-performing material hemplime.
Hempcrete usually contains hydraulic lime (e.g. natural hydraulic lime and ordinary portland cement) or pozzolanic binder (e.g. metakaolin). We do not use any of these materials, as they are not biodegradable. Hemplime only is the mixture of hemp shives and hydrated lime.
The late bloom of hemp (in September) is great for pollinators. Also, the hemp leaves protect small birds and other animals. No pesticides are used during the growth of hemp, which also contributes to better biodiversity.
Hemp sequesters CO₂ through rapid growth and high biomass production. Its deep roots improve soil carbon storage, while its leaves absorb CO₂ via photosynthesis. One hectare of hemp absorbs up to 15 tons of CO₂ annually, making it more efficient than trees. When we take the hemp and use it in our biocomposites, we lock the CO₂ in the material.
Delivery & Returns
The delivery will usually take between 5-8 weeks from the moment your have ordered with us.
We have a minimum quantity order of four panels. However, on special requests we also send products at a lower quantity order.
We ship worldwide. However, you will have to pay the shipment cost.
Insulation panels
It dampens sound with a higher frequency (e.g. speech) and lower frequency (e.g. machinery).
To hear the difference in acoustics, approximately 20% of the walls or ceilings need to be covered in panels.
No, the sound absorber doesn’t need to be mounted to the wall to work, but we recommend placing it/mounting it on a surface (such as the wall or the ceiling).
Yes, the sound absorbers are still effective when painted. However, we do not recommend more than two layers of paint, as this makes the surface less porous and decreases the sound absorption ability.
Yes, it is possible to reposition the sound absorbers if you want. However, we recommend consulting us on the type of installation you do, so it’s easier to disassemble the installation.
Although you can use the panels as bulletin boards, the material might get damaged over time if you pin the same spot over and over. This is why we don’t recommend it.
Our sound absorbers can be customized in terms of shape, colour, thickness, and mounting options. But please note, the more customized your product is, the higher the prototyping cost. But don’t hesitate to ask us about this. Just send us a message with your ideas and we’ll work on it together!
Yes, you sure can! Just send a request about this.
